Kristi Wipperfurth

Kristi Wipperfurth, noted for her emotionally fueled abstracted portraits, captures poets, novelists, and fellow artists she admires.  Wipperfurth uses unexpected materials for her impressionistically rendered works such as wooden crates, drawers, and wallpaper. These unique objects become substitutes for a standard canvas.  Her loose painterly style is full of color and texture that illustrates the great leaders in world literature, history and art.

“As I paint or illustrate, an attempt to honor the figures I find admirable in the world of literature, art/literature history, plain-folk history and philosophy. I hope, ultimately-- that the audience of my work will be drawn toward the inspiration, to the subject; that’s why I very often title my paintings “Ode to…”. Paul Valery, “A poem is never finished only abandoned,” is my mantra and statement”
